How did I end up writing a story over 38,000 words long? My original plan was to write a short story somewhere between 1,000 to 2,500 words. What I wrote instead was basically a book!

I used to believe I didn’t have enough “oomph” yet to write a full-length book.

A 3,000-word short story? Sure.

A 90-paged screenplay? Heck yeah!

A straight novella or novel? No way!

Now, I can’t say I can’t write books anymore. I can do it. It’s all about focus and determination.

It Started with Hunter x Hunter

Earlier this spring, my little sister introduced me to an anime called Hunter x Hunter. 12-year-old Gon Fleecs goes on a journey to become a Hunter and find his father, Ging. He meets some interesting characters along the way, including a strange clown magician named Hisoka. Apparently, people with strong fighting skills turn him on ( I don’t know understand, lol).

LOL wtf, Hisoka??? (Screen captured from YouTube)

Anyway, Hunter x Hunter had me hooked. I’m no stranger to writing fanfiction. I’ve done it…
