How to Attract Thousands of Views with Your Blog Post When You Least Expect It
Back in 2018, I’ve made a post on Medium on a topic I love, and it captured thousands of readers. It wasn’t about productivity, fitness, or the greatest writing secrets. It was about Hollow Earth theories.
Long story short: there are rumors of an ancient, yet advanced civilization lying underneath our surface. Antarctica is one of the entrances to Hollow Earth.
I’m telling you right now I’m not making bank for this post, despite the numbers of reads and views. I simply wanted to create a post as an expression of my enthusiasm for the subject (even if it’s crazy as all get out). I knew someone out there had the same feelings, but not this many.

Still, I didn’t think Medium would be the place where my Hollow Earth post would gain so much attention. This is the site where you’re more likely to get views (and money) for writing about trillionaire morning rituals drinking holy herbal teas and meditating until you ascend into the higher dimensions, not Ancient Alien-esque conspiracy theories.
I took a deeper look at the stats and discovered the external referrals made my Hollow Earth post blast off, not Medium itself.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been watching the reads and views continuously grow. It had gained so much attention; some readers contacted me on Facebook to share their favorite theories.
Once you reach one reader, you get them all (I guess haha).
Here’s how you can attract thousands of views with your blog post when you least expect it:
1. Don’t Expect Your Post to Get Thousands of Views
I did not think my post would become trendy. The idea simply popped into my head, and I ran with it. You’re going to be terribly disappointed if you have high hopes your post will go big. Experiment with your posts and see what happens.
2. Start Somewhere
Whether you’re writing on here, Blogger, or Wordpress, start somewhere with your writing. Keep posting with the right tags, and the readers will find you. Don’t forget to market your articles as well.
3. Write for an Audience of One
Don’t think: “How many people are going to resonate with this article?” Focus on the one reader who’s looking for the answers you hold.
If you’re an absolute expert on Scandinavian winter ice-fishing, focus on the one person who needs all the tips and tricks they can get. Others will follow.
4. Write What Excites You
What can you write about all day without your writing hand falling off? Entrepreneurship? Relationships? Feminism? Alpaca farming?
Write what excites you and share it with the world. Besides, time flies by when you’re writing about what you love than something that makes you want to jump out of a window.
5. Keep Writing
You’re not going to get thousands of views from your first post, fifth post, or maybe even your hundredth post. Creating a popular post is like digging for gold. You’re not going to get anything on your first try. You must keep digging daily.
You will never know how many people will find your posts until you publish them. You may even make a boatload of money from them.
Remember to be yourself as a writer, don’t try to copy somebody else. You may copy a blogger’s successful habits, but you can never capture their voice. The way their posts have grown popular won’t be the same as yours.
Overall, never stop writing.
