Systems Are Better Than Sucky Goals
Hey, it’s almost March. How are your 2021 goals coming along?
Are you steadily losing weight you might have gained from the holidays? How’s your T-shirt selling side hustle? Hope you’re doing well in your progress.
Did you know 31% of people have planned their 2021 resolutions? 19% were still undecided. Some people don’t care about making annual resolutions (and that’s okay). I mean, what’s the point if you’re going to forget about them by springtime. If you made big plans back in 2020, there were some definite reasons your goals have failed to manifest (I understand).
So what can you do? How can you finally smash your goals this year?
Goals Suck
Let’s get this straight: goals suck. They suck balls big time. You write down your goals, then what? Instead of relying on goals alone, you need to build systems behind them.
“A good system shortens the road to the goal.” -Orison Swett Marden
Without systems, you’ll go nowhere near goals. Plus, your goals must be specific. I’ve planned to write 15,000 words in one month. I could either write 1,000 words a day for 15 days or 500 words in 30. To make these goals, I’ve created a system writing 500 words each day until I made it to the end of the month. It’s great to create small goals out of your big goals as much as possible.
To maximize your system, you need focus and discipline. You can’t break out of the system, or else you’ll wonder why your goals aren’t happening. To make your goals work, you need to go all-in until you make it to the finish line.
Overall, the last component to supercharge your goal systems is to remember your why. Why do you want to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year? Why is it so important to write that book? Every time you think about your why will bolt you into action. Create a vision board if it helps you.
Don’t forget about your systems. Once they’re in place, you’ll be unstoppable. The most essential factor in making sure your goal systems run is you.
